    My sister and I went to happy hour on a Saturday. First off, thank you to the front of the house guy who agreed to seat us at 5:45pm for a happy hour that ended at 6pm. You are the real MVP Standouts were the wasabi tako and the cocktails. Both cocktails were delicious but very different flavor profiles. The soft shell crab bao was great too! I wish we could have sat outside on the patio, but that was more our fault for showing up so late into the happy hour!

    Came here for their happy hour on a saturday and there was no wait. There's plenty of tables inside and the decorations are really cute and on theme. I only had their poutine ($10) and Toki Highball / chicken karaage combo ($13). I thought the drink was good and the poutine came with a good amount of meat. Definitely not a poutine with gravy but more like chinese dan-dan noodles with fries instead of noodles. The chicken pieces were kind of small but very tender and juicy. Great place to come with friends for happy hour

    I always drive by here and when I heard that Tamari Bar was Rondo's sister restaurant, I had to give it a try! When I walked in, the interior seemed like a modern, hip Izakaya. We ordered the Curry Donuts Dip as an appetizer, the 7 Kinds Sashimi, and Dan Dan Mazemen. I felt hesitant following up with our server regarding refills/ordering more food because she seemed cold and like she didn't want to be there. When the food arrived, I thought that the presentation was innovative and actually whet the appetite. Everything looked so good! I was really impressed by the Curry Donuts Dip. The combination of the flakey, perfectly fried Youtiao with the savory, rich curry was not heavy and worked together very well. The Dan Dan Mazemen was fairly underwhelming and I could only really taste the ground pork. The fish from the 7 Kinds Sashimi tasted fresh and featured cuts of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, shrimp, octopus, scallop, and another fish I couldn't quite identify. The only downside of this dish was that there wasn't more! If you're looking for modern, non-traditional Japanese cuisine for fairly good value, this is a great spot!

    Came in for a late night bite on a work trip. First time at Tamari Bar. Place was still hoppin at 10pm and it was late night happy hour. Sat at the bar. Bartender was super friendly. Got a happy hour sapporo, a happy hour suntory highball, and some snacks. First was the tako with seaweed. Absolutely delicious. Should have gotten two. Well seasoned and fun to eat wrapped in seaweed. Kinda like a tako taco. Next was the spider bao. Which is essentially fried soft shell crab bao. The crab was nice and large and it was a hefty bao for the price. Finally the chicken karaage was great. Well cooked and still nice and juicy. Served steaming hot. Will definitely be back again for the various other eats at Tamari Bar.
